Sail numbers

How is the sail number determined? Is it assigned to the individual when you join the class association (like the Sunfish C/A)? Or is the sail number assigned according to the hull number? How can you determine the number if it is assigned to the hull?

Not sure if All are this way or not

I can't say if all the Catalina 22's have been numbered this way but my sail number also appears in my hull serial number.Hope this helpsDave LaPere

Dave is right

Catalina's generally come from the factory with a sail number that matches the hull number.If the boat is registered in a racing organization such as PHRF, the number is usually replaced with the assigned PHRF number.When sails are added or replaced, some people do not bother replacing any numbers (or class insignia).

Sail #'s

Look at the Catalina 22 National Organization site Catalina 22.org and look through the tech articles for determining boat hull I.D. and sail #'s.Very interesting to see what years were booms and which were not.

I determined that my C-22 is a 1982 model (already knew that) but it was built in September of 1981 and the sail number for my hull is 10622.Thanks again,Matt
