Sail Number?

What's the proper way to do my main sail number? I assume it would be the first four numbers of my haul number. I wanted to be sure that's correct. Haul number is CTYN6095L192, so sail number would be 6095. Yes, no?

This might not be correct. Why are you adding sail numbers? Are you planning on racing? If racing within a club, contact them first to make sure that the number you are planning on adding to your main isn't being used by another member. They may have reasons to deny certain numbers.

US Sailing maintains records on sail numbers issued. Different areas in the US are assigned numbers starting with lets say 10 or 20. Annapolis had 93. Iasked for 93339 and was given to my boat. One dedign fleets go by hull numbers. My Catalina is ISV 364. The country I live in and then sail number. You should start with the three letter designation. USA 6095.
