Sail mold
I have the same problem. I plan to remove the sail and soak it in a bath composed of a bleach/detergent mixture in lots of water. I'm looking for a used children's wading pool for this project. If you ask your local sailmaker, they should give you lots of information including the proper proportions for the soaking mixture. You can also pay (lots) to have this done for you, at least here in Seattle.
