This is the first year for me to have a 240 and to have a boat in the water with the stick up. It's been fantastic! However, I have had a little trouble raising the main lately. It is the stock main, and seems to stick about 2/3 to 7/8 up. There is also more difficulty if I have the outhaul tight first. I didn't want to use graphite {concerned that the grey would get on the sail}, or spray silicon {afraid that dust and bugs would stick and make it worst}. Is there a good dry powder spray that would make the lugs slicker? Thanks, Don

McLube SailKote works for almost everything. Bees wax is a great lubricant for sail tracks. Check your sheaves to make sure they are free running.

Silicone spray works great

I have been using silicone spray for three years now and have not had any bugs or dirt stick to it. It was recommended to me by a seasoned sailor who has used it for years. I spray the slugs a couple times a year and have absolutely no problems getting the main up. You can buy it at any auto parts store. masst track is clean as a whistle after three years. outhaul

You mentioned the outhaul, so I wonder if you are loosening the mainsheet and boom vang as well. ...RickM...

Sailkote Works

I used Sailkote on my H170, what a difference. Just sprayed the slugs once this season, no more jerky main action. Try it on your fenders, they seem to stay cleaner too. JerryA

Another vote for Sailkote

That stuff works great and it's dry, so no mess. As RickM pointed out, your mainsheet and vang should be loose before raising sail. Don't ease the topping until the sail is all the way up, otherwise you have to raise the weight of the boom as well. It's not that heavy, but every little bit counts. Peter H23 "Raven"

I agree with everyone about sailcoat being a great product . One other item . Make sure that the sail track is clean and free of foreign material . Spiders like to build nests in mine from time to time . Even with a good spring cleaning by the end of the season sometimes there are nests there . Mike
