I'm pretty new to sailing and need some advice form the wizened. The mainsail on my Oday 23 (which I've been sailing now for a month) sewems awfully full on the bottom. I've tried every angle of adjusting outhaul, boomvang et.. and can't get it flattened out any more. here's a link to a couple of pics.. http://www.atomicfilms.com/bobby/saildraft_sm.jpg http://www.atomicfilms.com/bobby/saildraft2_sm.jpg Can you guys tell me if the sail looks just worn out, and if so, can it be re-sewn or nipped and tucked for another couple of years.. or do I just need a new sail? And if so, where the heck do I get one? Thanks for your advice!

Sail

Bobby - Its hard to tell from the pictures. I'd bring it to a local sail loft and have them look at it for you. Most are willing to recut for a price. I'd price out a new sail, though. You'd be surprised how sailwork can add up - and you still have old canvass at that point. One easy approach may be to add Cunnigham and Flattening reefs to the sail. These will let you pull the draft out substantially. Also, are you sure the gooseneck is set correctly? Justin - O'day Owners' Web
