I spent quite a while at the SailCare booth at Strictly Sail Miami this weekend; very helpful and knowledgeable people. I'm interested in other's experience with this company, including their sail repair/cleaning/modification, and with the Bamar brand of roller reefing gear that they sell. Also, I'm trying to decide whether to convert my current (110%, I think) hank-on jib to roller reefing, or go with a larger genoa. I don't have a problem with the light air performance of this boat, and I suspect that the larger headsail isn't a good mix with a water-ballast boat. any thoughts?

Keep your origional jib

I have a 97 h26 and since you don't have jib sheet cars, to adjust to a bigger jib, I would leave well enough alone. Hunter puts it's power in the main, that's why they have a large roach and use B

Most people have been satisfied with Sail Care (I was), but the turn around time is 6-8 weeks so you have to time it for the off-season. Search the archives for comments but I think you will find most are favorable.

Bamar features

Thanks for the info. I now plan to modify my existing sail for roller-reefing. We don't have an off-season, so I guess I'll make do with the storm jib til i get it back. Anyone else using Bamar? It has some interesting features: the drum can be allowed to slide up, revealing the turnbuckle. The system doesn't require shortening the headstay; the drum bracket and turnbuckle are fastened together to the chainplate.
