Does anyone know of a good source for sails battens? Also does anyone the lengths of the battens in a 240 mainsail? I think there are 3.

Does anyone know of a good source for sails battens? Also does anyone the lengths of the battens in a 240 mainsail? I think there are 3.
I wouldn't depend on a spec length
Bart You should pull the sail off, lay it out flat, inspect each batten and pocket, get some batten material that's slightly longer than the pocket and cut it to fit the empty pocket. Tape up the ends of each one when you're done washing the sail with a mild sail cleaning solution and letting it dry out well. Seems like there's always a few spots that need a stitch or two anyway. Good sail maintenance will inevitably keep those rascals in place and ease your day too. Good luck, Michael

WM has them in all sizes, but you know their prices. But if it's the wide type (1-5/8") then you can buy them by the foot as well as the end caps, which must be heated in warm water, first. P.S. On my old mainsail, I kept them in place by using a strip of sail tape over the end of the batten pocket.

Good advice so far
The previous comments have been on target. The width you need is on the thin side: it's probably no more than an inch. Get the lettle end caps to match, and a couple of extras. There's inexpensive. A couple of seasons ago I had Sailcare clean the main and replace the velcro closures at the end of the pockets. They have held very well, but something extra like a stitch of thread would prevent any possible escape yet be easy to open. Good luck.
