Yesterday was not a good day for me. First, while going down the water way on a 41 with a 33 and 306 behind, the skipper of the 306 had his shoulder lock up and was in pain. I had him come up to me and I tried to get on the other boat. It was pretty rough on the water. I jumped onto the other boat but he put it in reverse. I fell in and the water was extremely cold. He did cut the engine off immediately and I swam to the back of the boat. The skipper used his head. My wife whom I love very much and puts up with my crap, took over the 41. She too used sense. Anyway I got onto the other boat and took over. When you guys have a situation come up, use your head and make that determination and if you cannot swim, always wear a life jacket. I would have made it but the skipper was concerened about the boat. My first thought was for his concern and do not worry about the boat as you can replace that but not human life.In the same day, my yard guys failed to look up with a mast hitting a high power line in front of my shop which did burn thru the forestay. Luckily, the jib halyard tied to the front of the mast saved the day. Yes I will be replacing a mast and a forestay. I cannot emphasize to you. Be careful when moving a boat on the trailer with the mast up. Even the best of us sometimes screw up. Look up. Also, I had a customer who decided the 240 was unsafe when dropping the mast as his buddy got shocked. To make a long story short, they were on the boat and ground trying to drop a mast during a thunder and lightening storm. My comment to this gentlermen is my dog has better sense to get out of that weather as it is dangerous. I think you all get the point. Please no responses but again, have fun sailing but always use common sense and judgement when it comes to safety.
