I am new owner of used 22' MacGregor currently on trailer. Is it safe (for the boat and me) to work on the deck and cabin while boat is on trailer? bbgear
I have a 22' Catalina and have done much work aboard while the boat has been on the trailer. I have taken several precautions and, to date, have had no problems.
My list of precautions includes:
My boat is stored on the trailer in my yard. I have poured concrete "footers" 18"x26"x12" under where the rear wheels and front jack stand will rest.
I have supported the trailer frame under the front cross support using railroad timbers and solid concrete bricks. I use the front jack stand to raise the trailer to accept the supports, then lower the stand.
I always block the rear wheels before going aboard to work.
As I mentioned, I have had no trouble using these precautions and would be interested in reading the thoughts and ideas of others.
