SAE or Metric

I am taking delivery of a 1996 Hunter 280, with a Yanmar 2GM diesel. I will be sailing her about 85 NM from Milwaukee to her new home on the south end of Lake Michigan in a few weeks. I am putting together my supplies and an putting a tool kit in the pile of stuff. But then it dawned on me that my tool kit has all SAE size wrenches and sockets.

Can someone tell me if the Yanmar 2GM from that era has SAE or Metric sized nuts and bolts?

All metric.. There should be an engine tool kit in the boat. The new engines originally came with a few wrenches and some screwdriver-like devices.

All metric on the engine, but you need a SAE set for everything else on the boat.

MOST of the engine is metric. Those pesky alternator bolts are still SAE (England rules the waves again!!!)

Thanks DJN51....I hope to have the H280 docked by Easter Sunday (if not, something has gone terribly wrong!) on the D dock.

Will be wearing lots of warm clothes it looks like. Hopefully the wind and weather and lake will cooperate a little !

England has switched to metric a long time ago. Just be thankful you don't have to carry whitworth also.
