some info on Sabre 28

LOA 28'5" LWL 22'10" BEAM 9'2" DRAFT 4'8" (STD), 3'10"(SHOAL) DISPLACEMENT 7,900 LBS BALLAST 3,100 LBS SAIL AREA 403 SQ FT DECK is balsa cored with plywood inserts at stress areas. Internal hull flange, butyl bedded and through bolted 6" on center with stainless steel bolts. Hull to deck is through bolted through transom. All deck hardware is through bolted with thick aluminum backing plates. Rigged with single upper and lower shrouds. In 1975 forward lower shrouds were added to reduce mast pumping under sail and vibration at the mooring. Mast vibration in high winds, even at anchor, is a common problem with decked stepped masts. Not all Sabre 28s have been retrofitted with the additional set of lower shrouds. If purchase of a pre-1975 model be sure to check that forward lower shrouds have been installed. Keel bolts are accessible in bilge for periodic tightening. Until 1975 all had atomic four gas engines. Engine access on early atomic fours has been reported as poor. No oil sump under engine. Access to stuffing box, needed annually for repacking and adjustment is poor. Wiring, plumbing, all finishing details well designed and neatly finished. Location of the main electrical panel, next to the companionway, is vulnerable to spray. Sabre 28 has held more of its value than many boats. Above average coastal cruiser.
