Seidelman S37 Slidell, La.
Have a question about the mast height on an S37. Book says 48.6, but went under the bridges in Cape May, which are listed at 50. Went under at low tide, and the bridge markings showed about 55 or 56 feet. Drug the antenna, on both of them, so I was pretty close. The antenna is a 3 footer. Question is, did Seidelman make a tall rig that I don't know about, or has my mast been changed. PO knows nothing about it, and thinks it is 48.6. There is a strip or stripe around the mast about two or two and a half feet down from the top, but I can't tell whether or not it is an extension. Anyone know what is going on with this, or how I can find out.

S37 Mast

Hi, I have a 37 Moondance, just put it on the site. The I measurement is 49.5 this is the measurement from the DECK to the top of the mast. If you add in the distance from the DECK to the waterline I would guess you are at 54 ft or so. The red line: Mine had that also, As you know the boats are a bit tender. If you race the boat, as I do, and as the previous owner did, you can get it rated using a smaller main sail than standard. Kind of like racing with a reef in the sail. If you do this the boat is rated with smaller sail area, but you have to have Red lines on the Mast and possibly the boom to show the maximum hoist allowed for your rating. I took the stipes off, and had a new main built using the entire mast and boom, but I do have two reefs. Dave
