Hi, I am the recent owner of a 1979 26 foot S2 8.0 B with a rudder that is controlled by a wheel. Is it normal that the rudder turns 180 degrees and that I have to bring the rudder back in to it's normal position. The previous owner had explained that this was the normal procedure when leaving the mooring. There is a constant current in the river where the boat is moored.
I can't help but think that there must exist a stopper or that I am possibly missing a cutter pin. Otherwise it may be a feature of the steering system of this model without cables.
Can anyone please comment,
Thanks,
Gary
