S2 9.2c Dorade information request

I am looking for an S2 9.2c owner who can provide some information on what appears to be possable dorade vent boxes when viewed from inside the cabin on the forward Port and Starboard cabin ceiling just aft of the forward bulkhead. When looking at the cabin top there appears to be no evidence of the dorade box. If these are dorade boxes can they be made active by cutting a hole in the cabin top entering the forward area of the box and if so how would they drain? I sure would appreciate any information that can be provided on this subject.:confused: Pictures would really be helpful!

I am really tempted to make the insision into the top deck to check for an active dorade box. Is there no one who can give me some information regarding these built in boxes before I do exploratory surgery on the deck?

I wouldnt' go cutting into the deck unless you know what you want to do with it. Some pix from you of inside and outside at the same location would help out... The deck is most likely cored so yhou don't want to make holes you're possibly not going to use...

There is a 9.2c on the hard near us. I'll try to see if I can observe the top deck on your behalf. If it looks like there are active dorades, I'll climb a ladder and take some pics. If no posts within 5 days, I had no luck. I know how helpful it is to have specific information as opposed to speculation!

I have an 8..5 which has a similar dorade setup. Before cutting the deck look inside. Are there vent openings on the inside? If so, use bent wire into the vent to se if there is a cavity between the inner hull liner anr deck outside. Is there a weep hole on deck for water to drain from the dorade? G
Try. Tapping with a mallet to see if a hollow cavity is where the dorade should go.

If you are comppelled to put a hole in the deck, start with a small one in the centerr of the presumed cavity. Then put wire into the hole to feel for the cavity.

If no cavity you'll only have one small hole to caulk/repair.
