Hi all, I'm a new s2 owner and the first thing I always do is rebed chainplates. This boat in particular has the screws missing (all!) from the deck plates. I can honestly say that is one I haven't seen before. I want to replace them but have no idea what length or width they should be. Can anyone advise? In the meantime I'm fighting 4200. And no this doesn't work! The surveyor found some but not major moisture so I plan to fix this before winter layup. Thanks! SC

On my 9.2 they are only about 1/2 inch so as not to go through the bottom layer of deck. I would guess about a number 10. Yours might be a higher number but should still be about 1/2 inch.

Great thanks Calypso. That sounds about like what we were able to measure. The holes are stuffed with 4200 so we had plans to remove the 4200, epoxy and re-tap the holes to the appropriate size. The 4200 wasn't sound or water tight but thankfully a PO had epoxied to protect the core. We're going the butyl tape route for her. I ordered some from Maine Sail.

I did the epoxy thing also. You could take the cover to the store and see which size screw head fits best. Balsa is only one half inch in the deck.
