I have a Catalina 27 with very rusty keel bolts. I need to replace them but want to do it myself. has anyone out there done this procedure, and if so how did you do it? My main concern is the makeup of the keel and how I can get it tapped and threaded, etc. Thank you!

Why replace?

This is one of my upgrades for next season for my '74 C27, and there are a lot of writeups on the topic. The way I plan to do it is to get long lag bolts from Catalina, drill about 1 foot holes into the keel in between the current bolts and screw them in. Leave the current bolts as is. Seems like the easiest and best solution to the problem. Do the research and decide for yourself.
