the iron keel on my 1975 p26w has several small pit marks after hauling out for the season in Oct. What I usually do is sand the pit marks and treat them with pettit silver rust inhibitor than cover the areas with ablative bottom paint. In the spring there are no pit marks and after a light sanding I paint the entire bottom with ablative paint. But the pit marks always are back in the fall though not to bad An hour or so sanding takes care of it. Recently Ive heard of a couple of new products one is called Osphro the other is called Por 15 These products are supposed to zap rust for good. Anyone had any experience with these products: Any opinions if they are better than the pettit stuff ive been using. And if so where can they be purchased Any feedback would be appreciated. POR 15

This stuff is really good. Have used it many times on auto restoration. You can get it online at Eastwood Co. in Pottstown, PA. Tim R.

Thumbs up for POR-15 too

I, too, think POR-15 (see link) is a great product for controlling rust on an iron keel. I have used it successfully on the keel of my H28.5 and it shows no rust where used. I also use POR-15 Putty for the keel/hull joint.
