What exactly failed? I get the impression from your post that there isn't a chainplate for this shroud, that it's fixed to the deck witha backing plate only.
John,You're right...there is no chainplate for this shroud. There is for the rear and the main shrouds, but the forward shroud has no chainplate. Is this not the case with other C-30's?--Allen
Allen I have a 1977 30 hull #395 and the exact thing happened to me however I lost the entire rig ! I replaced bothbolts with a larger size that I made myself ( I am a machinist ) I can help out with an info on how I solved this problem. Catalina has an upgrade whichchanges that bolt to a U bolt don't know how much $ e mail GKolc @ aol
