Running pump

I have a 1989 Hunter Cheribinei 33. Lately I've noticed that the pump supplying water to sinks runs longer than normal and occasionally I will turn it off manually for fear it might do damage to itself. I also have noticed a lot of air is in the lines. Might there a connection? Would this indicate the pump is going out? Might it just need some adjustment?
Thank in advance for any suggestions.

Don't know about your boat in particular but the water pump shuts off automatically on pressure. That is pressure on the delivery side of the system. All the hoses and faucets have water pressure behind them so when you crack open a faucet the water comes out. If you have a leak on the incoming side or a condition that allows air into the system on the incoming side of the pump it can take alot longer for the pump to achieve the required pressure because air is compressable and fluids are not. The pump is not designed to compress air and runs much longer to do so. Check all the water lines that feed the pump and make sure the hose clamps are tight.

Uncledom,
There were some leaks at a couple of PVC fittings. Replaced the fittings and snugged down all the clamps I could see. Helped the problem but does occasionally still run longer than it should. Maybe motor is going out, but going to take another good look tomorrow for ones I may have missed. Appreciate your response.

Glad I could help. If there is good flow coming from the faucets I would keep looking for leaks rather than a motor replacement. Good luck.

Is there more then one supply tank? Do you have an empty tank and the valve at the manifold turned on or not completely turned off? You may not of passed all the air out of the lines, still getting some compression.
