Running Light Wiring

I have a short somewhere between my electrical panel and my forward running lights (a series 25 Aqua Signal-Bi Color). The wire threads down the pulpit to just forward of the anchor locker, and then comes around the starboard side of the locker. Then, I lose it under the fabric interior. I tried to trace the wiring out of the electrical panel, but can't see where it goes. Have you replaced this wiring, or do you have any tips? Thanks! Kris Cox

Hmmmmmmmmm

I'm no electrician, but you might try putting a voltmeter on the affected bulb socket first to see if you have continuity........otherwise would probably be easier to run a new line and disconnect the old.

Wire

Khris; The first thing I would check are your connections AT THE BOW LIGHT and then behind the electrical panel. The second of course is the bulb and also the circut breaker. Normally, wiring through the boat remains intact unless being cut or drilled into. That is why that most of the time it is going to be in the connection, bulb or circut breaker. As for the wire, it runs through the bow pulpit and down into the boat on the starboard side. The only one area that the wire is hard to access is in the forward area where the anchor well is. If you ever have to pull the mouse fur or carpeting back, use contact cement glue or something along that line. Crazy Dave

One other thing

Kris; Also check the wire going into the bow rail to make sure the insulation is not chafed crazy Dave

Thanks!

Thanks Dave and Mike! I'll get to my boat later this week, and have a whack at it! - Kris
