running light bow pulpit wiring

I need to rewire the running lights wiring on my Hunter31. As installed, it is through the bow pulpit piping. The wires there originally weren't complete runs but spliced-together, which is where the wire failed and why, alas, I can't pull the new wire through by tugging on the old. They broke. The pulpit tubes are now empty, and I am about to drill a hole in the top of the pulpit's T to feed the wire first down to the light, and then over to the end of the puplit where the wiring then exits the tubing to pass through the hull. I have tried the vacuum cleaner-fishing line approach to sucking through a feeder line, and that wouldn't seem to work unless one had a jet engine doing the sucking. Any suggestions before I drill? Even though I can reseal the hole, one hates to bore through stainless. Roger

Try this Trick

Get some thin wire .020 cut two pieces bend a hook on either end. With on person on each wire rout them into the holes on either end and see if you can get them to hook on to each other. Then pull one all the way through attach the wire etc etc. Sometimes twisting one with the otherpused through will do it. I have spent many hours in, on and under airplanes trying to make this happen. Sometimes it works right off the bat sometimes you think it will never happen. Often it is just a matter of the way you are holding your mouth. Good Luck

..try a mouse with that vacuum cleaner

It doesn't take much vac pressure to pull a mouse thru conduit, so it should work. You can find this locally (very inexpensive) at an electrical supply store, and I've included a link so that you know what you're asking for. http://www.idealindustries.com/wi/Accessories.nsf G'luck
