Running Boom Vang to cockpit

I have an '86 boat with the factory boom vang with a built in cleat on the lower fiddle block. I would like to run this into the cockpit so I don't have to climb onto the cabin top to adjust. Has anyone done this? What might be the best way? Anybody got any pictures?

I was thinking about reversing the lower block so the line would run out the side of the block without the cam cleat, and run the line through a turning block through one of my rope clutches past the cabin top winches.

Thoughts? Thanks.

Why not just flip it first and see if it works. Did for me without running it back on our C22.

Like Stu says just flipped mine works great. I single hand more than 80% of the time.

What do you mean by flip it? Do you mean swap ends? Putting the fiddle block with the cam on the boom and the other on the mast? Can someone post a pic please?

I have mine flipped as well. However, I will be running the line back to the cockpit this winter. With the vang reversed the line winds up dangling in the cabin and gets in the way when I go into it.

I plan to take the cleat off the current block, run the line back to a block at the mast base, then to a turning block and back to a PXR cleat at the cockpit. I believe that the result will be a lot cleaner than what I have now. This will also give me a 5:1 vang instead of 4:1.

Flipping the blocks, however, is the quick way to make the boat easier to sail.

I left the fiddle block with the cam on the mast end but removeed the cam and ran the line thru a block and fairlead to a camcleat on top of the cabin. Just have to grab the rope and adjust away without letting go of the tiller. I also rerigged the vang as a cascade so have about 12 to one now. Takes no effort to adjust even in higher winds.
