Runing halyards through mast

I've got a '78 Hunter 25 and was wondering if it would be possible to run my halyard through the mast. Right now there are 4 sheeves at the masthead and both halyards run throught th masthead and down the opposite side. If I run through the mast will I have problems with the lines chafing or causing problems with the wiring? also can I run the halyards through blocks in th bottom of the mast directly to my deck organizer and if so what size block should I use? Or should I still a stand up block on the deck before the organizer? Thanks in advance for helping a newbie sailor.

The halyard will slap.

If you run it down the interior of the mast without it being in some sort of channel, it will very likely slap on the interior. You will drive yourself and all your dock mates crazy trying to figure out where the halyard slapping is coming from.

...and very tidy. Just try to leave enough opening to avoid chafing the lines.
