I've been looking around a long time for a rug to cozy up our main saloon. I didn't want to have to have anything custom made. I've been checking around various stores and have done considerable looking on the web. No doubt, I was a little obsessive about finding the right rug. There are plenty of sites that sell rugs, but the trick is finding one that lets you sort by color and size.

I liked esalerugs.com. I was able to specify "runner", in blue, from 6 to 7 feet. I ended up finding a nice rug that's 6'3" long by 31". It goes from the feet of the companionway stairs to the forward bulkhead. Basically the entire length of the saloon. 31" is the max width that the saloon will accommodate if you go the entire length. It still takes a little looking around on this site to find what you want, but it's the best I've found.

By the way, I put the rug on the boat today...NICE. It's a 1/2" thick hand knotted wool rug for under a 100 bucks. Really cozies up the interior. ;)

Gotta confess, I was equally obsessive about finding a couple art prints for the saloon...one for the bulhead at the dinette, and a smaller one for the nav station. Art.com is great for this. My only gripe there is that you can't search by size, but the selection is huge. I've used them a lot for prints in our home.

I'm curious as to whether others have decorated their cabins, or whether you've just left them functional.

I used a small rug from Target. Your plan sounds a lot nicer - may have to check them out. I have an original piece of framed art on the large bulhead by the dinette - a serigraph by a regional artist that does a lot of Chesapeake Bay scenes. Hung it from screws, with velco on the back to keep it from moving with the boat's motion. I'll post some pictures next time.
