I have a 1983 Catalina I live in the PNW when it rains water runs around the lazarette cover and to the ruder post. I end up with a lot of water in the bilge after it rains. Could it be that the Nylon Washer is so old that its not doing the job any more or is the fiberglass around the post worn down so that it needs to be rebilt? Has anyone else fixed this. thank you for any help with this. greg

but the leak is at the top of the ruder post under the cap were the nylon washer is.

Rudder Post Leak
I also own a 1983 c30. I don't have this particular problem, but I read where one owner built up a dam out of silicon sealant around the rudder post to direct the run off water from the lazaret cover to the cockpit drains...worth a try.
