Okay my rudder post is severely bent and torqued and can not be repaired.
The repair guy has a used unknown year Hunter 34 Rudder that the metal shaft length and holes exactly matches my 1983 Hunter 31. The Hunter 34 rudder is about 7 inches shorter in length but much wider so the actual surface is the approximately same. It weighs more because it appears to be made of wood covered by fiberglass and mine is foam covered by fiberglass.
It appears the rudder will work can and will save me 1100, can anyone think of a reason not to use it and to buy a new? The rudder is solid no rot and no leaks. the one concern I have is if in a strong wind and on the rail will the rudder not be long enough in the water for control?
Any thoughts please help!!!
