My 1999 Hunter 30 shows signs of the rudder shaft tube moving when the wheel if turned hard in either direction. Upon examining the fiberglass tube that connects the steering mechanism to the rudder shaft, the tube has broken away from the bottom of the deck, directly under the emergency tiller housing. I've been told that this is an indication that the bearing need replacing. Does anyone have any advice? As the boat is in the water for the season, I'd prefer to glass in the tube and wait until fall to check the bearings, if infact they are the problem. thanks!
