Rudder replacement

I need to replace the rudder on my 1977 27' hunter. Does anyone have a supplier that they used to purchase a rudder and are happy with? Not looking for high tech racing rudder...standard replacement will do. Boat is use in Barnanget Bay NJ. Occasional off shore trips.

Anyone familiar with Foss Foam Products out of Fl. ( newrudders.com) ?

Foss Foam would be your best bet. They made many of the rudders for Hunter throughout the years.

Are you sure that it needs replaced? Can you describe the condition of the rudder? Many problems with a rudder can be repaired at less cost than a new one. And the resulting rudder could be better than the original OR a new one.

Steve is correct, Foss probably did make your original. But a new one from them will be big bucks.

I had Foss replace the rudder on my 28.5 a few years ago. I think they did a fine job and yes it was a bit expensive, but you can save yourself some money if you completely remove the old rudder from the inner stock. Saves Foss the effort and you save on shipping costs. Just remember to mark the top of the rudder location on the post as it helps things line up after the rebuild.
