I need to replace the rudder on my '86 H31. There are 'wormholes' in the S/S at the top of the rudder. I've seen a lot of discussion about rudders in the past, and remember there is a source other than Foss Form, but cannot remember the company name, and don't come up with anything in the archives. I had good luck from Foss about 15 years ago when I replaced the rudder on my H27, but would look at other options. Also, has anyone replaced the hull bearing for the rudder post?? Looks tough. Any input will be appreciated. Thanks.

Yep, been there done that...

....on my old 34. Remove the old rudder. Use mold release wax on the shaft (3 coates). And inject West Epoxy with carbon black in it. After it sets up, break the old rudder shaft free and remove. West Systems has a book available that takes it step by step. You'll never have this problem again.

Thanks for the info Alan

That sounds like the bearing fix will be quite simple. I managed to find the other rudder manufacturer, Idasailor Marine, in the archives and think I'll get the new rudder from them.
