I have two dings (scratch marks) on my Hunter 170 rudder that go as deep as the metal. Is the rudder made of ACP also? What do I need to do to fill in the dings? Thanks
I can help you on this one but a photo is needed before I respond. Keep me as a contact as I as a former dealer sold nearly a quarter of the production line. Photo first. The rudder is fiberglass over an internal foam/metal. I believe foss foam made that but not sure.
Not necessarily answering the question, but if you want a replacement tiller and rudder, I used ruddercraft. The product was superior and actually improved the performance of my 15 foot Chrysler mutineer. If I had tiller steering on my 37.5 legend, I would use them again.
Not sure if Ruddercraft builds a rudder for the Hunter 170 or not; ;however, we do not know how serious the damage is and photos are needed to help better answer his question which is why I asked for photos. Plus I know this boat all too well.
I see that some of you are recommending Ruddercraft for a replacement rudder...can you comment on their delivery time? Looking to get a new rudder quickly....
My experience was great with rudder craft. Got a human on the phone, ordered it and got it within two weeks. In fact, they had never done a rudder for my type of boat before. They were great. They helped me with measurements right over the phone. As I recall, they were on the phone with me guiding my measurements.
