This past summer I purchased a 1990 30T Hunter. The boat is now sitting on it's cradle at the club and I need to remove the rudder. I have dug a hole to ensure adequate clearance to drop the rudder and have blocked the rudder. I have removed the steering quadrant (two halves and bolt through). After the removal of these items I thought the rudder would simply drop out. I am able to lift the rudder ~ 1 - 2 in. however the shaft will not pass through a plastic collar that is located just under the steering quadrant. There are no obvious set screws/snap rings etc. Can anyone provide some guidance on what I am missing and where I go from here and if there are any other surprises/hang-ups I should know about?? There are no yard mechanics in my area. Your help would be very much appreciated. Thanks Mike

Got It!

Thanks for the contact Mike, but I got the rudder out yesterday. It was a frosty morning here and I woke up early grapped by wife's hair dryer and set it up against the HDPE collar and started to gently tap the post with a rubber mallet and out she dropped.
