Rudder Problems?

I have been having a problem with the new rudder that was put on my '98 260 last year after the original one split. Before the old rudder split the boat handled very well in the water. Now the boat doesn't answer the helm. I have complained to Hunter saying that the new rudder is the wrong size. Can anyone with a '98 and a 2000 Hunter 260 with a wing keel tell me the size of their rudder. I want to see if there really is a difference.Thanks,Paul

make sure it is ALL the way down

This is a problem we have had with our H-26. Then we realized that the rudder tends to slip up about a 1/2 inch sometimes. We couldn't figure out what the problem was for a while because it is not noticable at first glance. When the rudder has slipped it gets very hard to control the boat when there is a good amount of wind. Just try to pull that thing all the way down and tighten it really good. (not too good though, otherwise it won't kick up if you run aground). If you have already tried this, im sorry I don't know the exact measurements of the rudder.  Good luck

Thanks Kevin for the advice but we already tried that. Our problem is with the measurements I think because it worked great with the old rudder. Now even in a slight breeze it doesn't answer the helm. hopefully we can resolve this problem soon. I would hate to waste another season with the repair of the boat.
