Simple - go to any industrial bearing distributor"

they will be able to match your pillow block bearing - perfectly. Take the exact measurements of shaft dia, (with micrometer) etc. or take the bearing with you and have the bearing distributor do this measurement for you. You will probably have to 'hand dress' the shafting with emery/crocus cloth to remove any imperfections on the shaft and to get a 'good and tight' slide-fit. Be sure to explain to the bearing distributor what you are applying this bearing to so that he correctly sizes the bearing inside diameter for a 'sliding fit' instead of a 'press fit' which would need an arbor press to install. If the bearing was originally installed onto the shaft with a portable arbor press ... then its going to be a 'bitch' to remove and you may have to rent a suitable 'gear puller' to remove it.

Looking for info

Hi Rich, I read what you had to say about matching a bearing to the rudder post, good info. I would like to hear what you have to say about your boat and if you have found any info on 38 foot CT's. I will be putting in a new motor and gear box and would like to know what worked for you and if you had to do it all over again what you would do.
