I just bought a very nice '77 C&C 26. The rudder post has a fitting at the top where it protrudes from the cockpit sole, which is confusing me a little. It appears that the wrong size bolts are fitted, and there should be a bushing to prevent it from riding on the collar which holds it all in place. Does any one know if these parts are available, or do I need to fabricate new bushings? If fabrication is in order, what material should I use ?
