Rudder post Leaking?

I am getting water in the aft section of my 73.5. It is not coming from the engine wet exhaust or macerator (thank God, or it would really smell bad). The only thing I can surmize is that when the boat is healed over while sailing the water is coming up inside the rudder post past the top bearing and or seal and finding its way into the aft locker. Anyone experienced this and if so what did you do to correct it if you were able? I cannot find a diagram or drawing of the rudder post , bearing, or seal for the 37.5.

Oops! My boat is a 37.5 not a 73.5. So much for reviewing my poat before submitting.

That should read post not poat. Boy, I need another cup of coffee. Sure hope there is some response from others who may have experienced and solved this issue.

I had leak on top side of bottom bearing (impossible way you described this even when you heel 90Deg ruder is out off water!)....fiberglass tube purely made by hunter...leaked when I motored because stern squad down on power...long story how I found this out. Not difficult to fixed this pull out and glass the area.. Good luck...John

I actually found the source of the leak and forgot to report it on this forum when I did. The leak turned out to be from the propane tank vent through hull that was made of plastic. The nipple had cracked right at the point where the vent hose was hose clamped. Whenever I was on starboard tack water would trickle in. I replaced it with a bronze one and no more leaks. I then checked the rest of the through hull valves for plastic nipples and low and behold almost all through hull valves had plastic nipples. I remedied that situation replacing them with bronze ones. No plastic for any thing that penetrates the hull an could let water in the people tank. I rode submarines during my naval career and that experience pervades all my thinking when it comes to a boat.
