Rudder Post Leak

I have recently purchased a 1981 C30. Rain water leaks in via my rudder post. Could the teflon/plastic bushing that is located directly below the cap need replacing? If so, where can I get one? That bushing/seal is all that prevents water intake. Should there be something else? Thanks, Dan H.

Add a dam or cover

My '82 C30 just has a plastic bushing under the tiller "knuckle". I think the function is not to prevent water from entering, but to act as a bushing to prevent rubbing under the knuckle. Two methods to keep out water (from the C30 Sailnet email list) were to add a MarineTex "dam" to divert water off the lazarette cover down to the cockpit floor (rather than onto the rudder post), or to put a cover over the knuckle (like a canvas winch cover) when the boat is not in use.
