The rudder post cap on my 1987 Cat 30 seems to have developed some stress and/or corrosion cracks. The hardware I am talking about is the fitting on the top of the rudder post used with the emergency tiller. I need to know if this a critical problem with the potential to drop the rudder or if repairs can be delayed until the boat is hauled for the winter.
