I HAVE A HUNTER 340 1997. MY QUESTION IS: I NEED TO REPLACE THE RUDDER POST BEARINGS TOO MUCH PLAY. I WAS TOLD BY HUNTER 1/16 TO 1/8 PLAY OUT OF BOX NEW. THE BEARINGS ARE EPOXIED IN AND HAVE TO BE CUT OUT?? DOES ANYONE HAVE INFO ON THAT SUBJECT?? HOW LONG IT WOULD TAKE ETC. THANKS CAPTAIN WOLF KUTZNER

West System

You can repair the bearings without removing them. Get a copy of the West System manual ( I got mine at West Marine). I did this on my H310 when rudder developed slop. Worked beautifully. Repair is 3 years old now and no discernble play in rudder post. Tom S/V Miss Jenna

Rudder wear prevention

That rudder wear sounds excessive. When you are docked/moored, do you time off the helm or tighten down the help to keep wave and wake action from playing the rudder? The constant flip/flop of the rudder while NOT using your boat would annoy me. Good luck on the fix.
