Was in the back of the aft-berth in my 23.5 hooking up my solar panel...and noticed that the bolts which connect my Gudgeons to the transom do NOT have any nuts on them *yks ....There werent any loose down in the storeage area back there, and the bolts didn't really look like there had ever been any on them, but who knows???...so I guess my question is, WTF??? are there SUPPOSED to be nuts on them? Has anyone else noticed this? Thanks in advance....

my 240

I was trying to beef up the stanchions on my 240 a few years back. No nuts on the inside of mine either. There is a backing plate glassed in that the bolt threads through. I imagine this is true in the aft as well. Ken

Glassed in nuts

I don't know for sure but I have seen Hunter glass in its nuts. I'd put a washer and two nuts (1 to hold it and 1 to lock the other) as the rudder is a fairly important piece of equipment. It is cheap insurance. The only way to tell is to destroy it so knowing for sure is probably out of the question.

yeah, thats a good Idea

I'll grab a couple of nuts and washers and slip em on there...I've got to get back in there to finish a project...can't hurt. I'm thinking that the plate theory is correct, though. thanks
