Rudder - marine growth

I never found a real thread on this so I'll ask here. I have a new to me H260 that stays in the water full time (salt water bay). I have quickly acquired a growth of soft and shells quickly at the top of the rudder hinge/rudder that is in the water when the rudder is hauled up. I was wondering what folks did to control this? Appreciate any advice! Bill

Brush it off when you are at the boat.

Keep a long handled brush in the lazzerett and brush it off when you go sailing. Fair winds, Tom

I'll second the suggestion below...

...but add a plastic snow/ice scraper to the tool list for the tough-to-remove stuff (barnacles, etc.). I know that they are tough to come by in FL, but just think - you will be the envy of the marina when you ask them if they know what it is. If you decide that you need one, contact me thru this web site and I can find an old one for you up here in New England.
