Rudder Lubrication

Does any one know where, how, and with what material does one lubricate the rudder/rudder post on a 1990 Hunter 33.5? Thanks.Dick Carey

I've never done this on my '88 33.5 but my feeling is it would be best accomplished by dropping the rudder during haul-out. Probably not the answer you wanted.

Why Lub

Lub wheel, cable pullys, chain, and points under compas. Water is the lub for the rudder itself.

A friend of mine had a stiff rudder on his Catalinia 27. Each year it got worse. We finally dropped the rudder when the boat was on the hard, cleaned the old black hard grease off the shaft. Used Teflon grease (West marine and BoatUS have it) on the shaft. Other than keeping the water out rudder tube, don't know why we put the grease on. And the rudder after we were done?? moved easily with my pinky.Mark
