Rudder craft kick up rudders

I am considering a kick up rudder from Rudder Craft (RC). Another member had some good advice on this. The RC model is not cheap at $1000. As most of the Oday 22-26 owners know a weak point in the design was the tiller/rudder connection. The RC model looks well made but I am concerned about that particular joint.

Does anyone have experience with Rudder Craft rudders? Have they held up well? Are they worth the money?

I have one on my MacGregor 26D and "Love it". It was like putting power steering on my boat. I am military and they will give a discount to the military.
IMHO, go for it!

Cool, yes, I know the tesitmonials on the website are numerous and encouraging....good to get yours as well......yes, I will ask for the military discount.

I have been very lucky that Rudder Craft and IDASAILOR MARINE are located in Idaho. I had Joel build a custom rudder for my old boat SV/Varuna a Oday 25. They had the ability to have my boat at the shop when they built the first template for the Oday 25. I had them build it out of bigger stock as I was sailing in the ocean. They also made a new center board. They were the two best improvements to Varuna ever. I sold the Oday 25 to two young brothers who took off to sail Mexico. Last I spoke to them they absolutely loved the rudder. I highly recommend the rudders from Rudder Craft. It was also nice to go in and watch them create all of the parts. Go for it.

I bought a kick up rudder last year from RudderCraft (Idasailor). Seems to be a well built product and I'm satisfied so far with the performance and handling. Good people to work with.

Bought mine 3 years ago, big improvement in boat handling and trailerability, just remember to put a bungee over the rudder before pulling it up the ramp, and keep one on while trailering. There was a little screwup in the order, and they overnighted it at their expense so I would have it for the weekend, good people.

I bought one.....love it....vry precise installtion and great workmanship of the product. Sails better now and i can beach when i want to.
