Rudder Casting Upgrades

I took apart my kick-up rudder casting to clean up the corrosion from the previous owner. In the process, I munged up the pintle threads, so I plan on replacing them. If I decide to go to the 1/2" pintles and gudgeons, do I need to drill out the casting or do they have the same size where they go into the casting? Any other issues I may run into?ThanksJoeC-22

Pindle bolt on both the 3/8 and 1/2 are the same size. There was a discussion on pindle/gudgeons not long ago, you should be able to find it in the archives.
