I am replacing my rudder. I found two Delrin bearings each about 1" thick. They were stacked one on top of the other. Both bearings were in the piece of PVC pipe in the aft cockpit locker. The "floor" of the locker has been replaced so the PVC pipe installation and the bearing placement may not be the same as originally installed. Two questions: Is there any bearing in the fiberglass "tube" glassed into the bottom of the boat? It seems like the bearings in the PVC pipe should be spread out to spread the load some. What do you think?
