Hello everyone. I have a 1978 25' Hunter and was told I should replace my lower Rudder bearings. Does anyone know where I can get these? Will I have to have them fabricated? It appears to originally be in 2 semi circular pieces. I assume to save you from removing the Rudder which isn't a problem for me. Please help.

I do not think that these boats had a bearing or provisions for one. They just have poly board like you mentioned. It has lasted for over 30 years why not just replace what you already have.

Once you find out the price for these things, you will probably agree with my idea anyhow!

I think you can get a couple of pieces of cutting board material or a plastics store will have some thicker stuff. Use a hole saw and drill a hole in the middle. Then you can cut them in half to secure around the shaft. I believe that the need to be screwed into the hull to secure them in place.

This is basically like a bushing and just holding the rudder shaft in place.
