I have a 1995 30. My rudder has a slight give to it when I shake it (on the hard)
My zinc on the shaft was hanging off by only one bolt when hauled. I was told that that can cause turbulence when in forward. So that said, I had a shaking in the wheel while under power this season. Can anyone offer me suggestions as to what to check or how easy is it to replace the bearings. Could it also be that my prop needs to be balanced? I fouled it the end of the prior season. It might be something I can tackle this winter. Thanks for your help and advice. Bob

Replacing rudder bearings will usually not cure the shake that you have at the wheel when under power. This is indeed vibration caused by turbulence from prop wash which causes the rudder to shake a bit when she's in full throttle. I have felt this issue in other boats before, not just the C 30.
