Hello All,
I have a Hunter 335 that has been accumulating quite a bit of water in the bilge while on dry dock (rain water). Tracing back the leak I have found that it is coming from the rudder column that penetrates the height of the boat (from the helm to the hull). I have removed rotten wood around this area and I am beginning to prepare to fix the leak. My plan is to remove the steering quadrant and bearing and lower the rudder until I can access the inside of the column where I want to attempt to repair current glass work. At the same time I want to add a few more layers of glass on the outside of the column (from inside the boat). Here are some pictures of the problem from inside. What do you guys think about this strategy? Have you come across something like this before, if so, how did you fix it?
