Just bought a new pair of spreader boots from Rudy but didn't think to ask how best to attach them. I first thought tie-raps/zip ties then wrap in some form of anti abrasion tape. Any thoughts on securing them?

I used rigging tape

Zoomie - When I checked mine and re-wired the shrouds to the spreader I used self fusing rigging tape. I wrapped this around the ends and then around the connection to the spreader. It has worked great and I think it helps to protect the plastic from the UV.

I also use the self -fusing rigging tape to secure the rubber spreader boots on my 222. It has held up well. Mich222

Being a redneck from upstate ny, I used zip ties and electrical tape. However, i did get creative and used White electrical tape.

Did ya'll use the tape to cover the entire boot or just the 2 points the shroud exits and the spreader?

I wrapped all around

Zoomie - You asked if we covered the entire boot with the tape or ??

WHen I did it I tried to keep the tape as one continous piece - Don't remember where I started - Probably one of the ends the shroud passes through - then as I wrapped that I did the other end of the shroud and then to the end which is on the spreader - so after that the ends of the boot were pretty well covered - but not the entire thing. Hope this makes some kind of sense.

The reason I used a single piece was so that it only has one free end - and the possibility of that unraveeling would be remote. So far it has lasted a few years - the end is a little tatty but all looked fine when I inspected it at the beginiing of the season in May
