I am in the process of re-doing my hull and am going to replace the rub rail. Whats the easiest way of making the bends around the transom and bow? I was thinking of heating the material (plastic) before making the bends. Any ideas????

Rick, I replaced the rubrail inserts on my O'23 by heating them in a my bathtub filled with very hot water. If you are replacing the entire housing and insert, TASCO and the DIY folks made a great video. I borrowed the tape from the Pensacola West Marine Store. Good luck. Terry

Two years ago, a friend and I replaced the rub rails on my O28 and his O35, and while a hair dryer will work on the insert which is no big deal, it took a heat gun to deal with the plastic rail itself. Got the parts and a lot of input from Rudy Nickerson, and there is certainly some technique involved. The new stuff is highly improved over the original, though, and you end up with a highly reinforced deck to hull joint. Pat and Bill Coxe, O28/40, New London, CT
