My 2002 Catalina Capri 22 survived Hurricane Ivan, but the rub rail on the port side was torn from its slot due to contact with piling. About 3 ft. fore and aft remains in the slot, but the rest is hanging loose. I have tried to work it back into the slot, but I have not discovered an effective way of forcing it under the lip of the top part of the slot. The material (even in near 70 degree) weather seems too stiff to work into the slot. Any suggestions???

Boat I had, I could put that rub rail back in with a large flat blade screw driver. Starting at a location where it is already in put the screw driver in the slot and force it back into the rail -- continue until you get it all done. Best of Luck Paul

Thanks

Thanks. I tried that, but maybe I need a larger blade on the screw driver. It was working for about a foot, then the rubberized material seemed to become too stiff. Maybe I should wait for warmer weather --- or heat the area with a hair dryer?? Tom S

Rub rail and vaseline

Have you tried gooping it up with vaseline or some other lubricant?
